The ACMG Foundation Impact
The ACMG Foundation is shaping the future of medical genetics and genomics by growing the workforce pipeline, advancing education and research, and improving the lives of patients and families. Through fellowships and the Summer Genetics Scholars Program, the Foundation has supported more than 100 years of genetics training and introduced more than 270 medical students to the field. In addition, the Foundation provides free bicycles, including specially adapted bikes, to children with genetic conditions, bringing joy, independence, and new opportunities to families nationwide.

I am very humbled, honored, and moved beyond words by receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award…I also join a community of colleagues-fellow awardees who have impacted our field as it transformed medicine over the last decades.

As a preclinical medical student, the ACMG Summer Genetics Scholars Program gave me the rare opportunity to move beyond the classroom and learn directly from patients, geneticists, and genetic counselors. It completely changed how I think about patient care and showed me that genetics has a place in every medical specialty.
